Your long-awaited Tukuwool Fingering is finally here! We gently renewed the yarn base for smoother quality and softer handfeel. In August 2023, we welcomed a brand new era of knitting with the launch of Tukuwool Fingering, a renewed Finnish wool yarn. This yarn has undergone a transformation that has left us truly excited, and we couldn’t wait to share it with you!The most notable changes are new labels and the skein size, now coming in a generous 100 grams per skein, double the previous size. Alongside this, we made a slight adjustment to the meterage, now 370 meters per 100 gram. These changes weren’t just for aesthetics; they were about efficiency and sustainability. We wanted to create a yarn that not only looks and feels great but is also produced with minimal waste. The result? A yarn that is not only more sustainable but also boasts a consistent quality and a texture that feels natural yet softer than before. Now, you might be wondering if these changes will affect your knitting projects. The answer is a reassuring “no.” The shift in meterage subtly influences the gauge for Tukuwool Fingering, but it’s so slight that your trusty old knitting patterns will work seamlessly with the updated yarn. But that’s not all! We’ve also taken the opportunity to breathe new life into Tukuwool Fingering color palette. Alongside the beloved classics, we’ve introduced a few trendy, fresh shades that are sure to inspire your creativity.100 % Finnish Wool50g = 185m/202yds

North Ave. Twists Plied is a yarn line that Karida Collins (Neighborhood Fiber Co.) and Ann Weaver (weaverknits) conceived when touring the Harrisville Designs mill in New Hampshire. North Ave is their first yarn: a 100% wool, two-ply, woolen spun, fingering weight yarn, spun at Harrisville and hand-dyed in Baltimore. To celebrate the city of Baltimore—both its past and its current developments—Plied colors are named for Baltimore traditions, locations, and personalities. North Ave is a major east-west artery in Baltimore and the location of many cultural landmarks in the city. It is part of old Route 1, so before I95 was built, it was the way people traveled all along the east coast, from Florida to Maine. Additionally, it used to be the northern boundary of the city—everything north of that was the suburbs! For much of Baltimore's early history, North Ave was a thriving center of arts and business, but it fell into disrepair in the second half of the twentieth century. Today, the city has designated sections of North Ave as Arts and Entertainment districts, which is driving revitalization.
