Isager Jensen - Ase Lund Jensen's Legacy, modernized. Originally, Isager Jensen Yarn was named ÅLJ after knitwear designer Åse Lund Jensen. In the 1960s, Åse Lund Jensen sold handknitted sweaters, she knitted in a heavy Swedish yarn. The heavy weight of the finished garments made shipping costs outside Denmark much too expensive, and this led to a new cooperation between Åse Lund Jensen and the Danish spinning mill, Henrichsens Uldspinderi in Skive. Together, they developed a lighter 3-ply yarn, ÅLJ and introduced it in a new natural color range which Isager is still the base for our Jensen Yarn, Spinni and Tvinni. The white wool origins from New Zealand, and the brown and grey wools used for the s-colors origin from Gotland sheep in Europe. The supplier in New Zealand is a brand partner of the Wool Integrity program that ensures that the principals under this program such as animal welfare, environmental sustainability and traceability are met. Follow this link to read more about Wool Integrity: https://www.woolintegrity.com/Jensen yarn is chemically dyed but based on the color range of natural dyes Åse Lund Jensen chose for her yarn. The colors 0, 0s, 2s and 3s are undyed and unbleached. All other colors are Oekotex 100 colors from Europe, but since the spinning mill in Skive has not been certified, the product can’t carry the Oekotex 100 label. As this is a 3-ply yarn, it is a firm and evenly spun yarn well suited for texture knitting as it allows the texture to stand out well. The yarn is very durable and wears out beautifully in the same way as Tvinni. We recommend this yarn especially for indoor and outdoor garments. • Isager Soft Fine

    Isager Isager Soft Fine

Isager Soft Fine With its softness and brushed feel, ECO SOFT has become extremely popular, and we decided to introduce a similar but finer version. ISAGER SOFT is a tube yarn of cotton in which alpaca fibers are infused and it can only be produced as a thick yarn. ISAGER SOFT FINE has a core of silk on which a strand of alpaca and yak is added as a loopy bouclé, which is then finally brushed to make a fluffy yarn. Even if the production and the fibers are different to Isager Soft, we find quite a similarity in the textures of the two yarns. ISAGER SOFT FINE contains wool from yaks and the depth of the colors derives from the dark color of the yak wool, – exactly as we know from the S-colors of white and black wool. Its softness compares to Silk Mohair, knitting with this yarn, however, is a completely different experience, especially when knitting with one strand only. The yarn is unbelievable soft and our inhouse-name for this yarn is ‘Isager’s cashmere’. • Isager Hoer Organic

    Isager Isager Hoer Organic

    Shipped within 1 business day

Isager Hoer Organic ISAGER HØR ORGANIC is a 100% linen yarn that is perfect for warmer weather.  A favorite yarn for summer garments in Denmark, it can be used individually with two or more strands held together, or it can be knitted with other Isager yarns. However, do not knit in the rounds as the garment will skew. When working a knitting technique with this yarn, e.g. a structure pattern or a jacquard pattern in a two or more colored pattern, it can be knitted in the round. The colour range has 6 colours which blends perfectly into our shade card – and the colour combinations with other Isager yarns are endless. The yarn consists of 100% organic fibres but the dyes are non organic – with the exception for the undyed colour Linen, of course. This yarn is the fine alternative for people with wool allergies. Recommended Gauge Hør Organic: 3 mm needles = 26 sts / 34 rowsHør Organic + Alpaca 1: 3 mm needles = 20 sts / 24 rowsHør Organic + Alpaca 2: 3,5 mm needles = 18 sts / 22 rowsHør Organic held double: 3,5 mm needles = 19 sts / 20 rows Material 100% linenMeterage 356 in 100 g Spun from organic fibersSpun and dyed in Italy

    Isager Isager Spinni

SPINNI is a single ply natural wool. In the olden days in Iceland this yarn was hand spun and preferably so fine that a finished shawl could be pulled through a finger ring.Spinni is not quite as fine and we use the yarn in many different ways. When used on its own it is very suitable for lace shawls and one of its qualities is that it keeps its shape, so a scarf or shawl will not ‘collapse’.As Spinni is a single yarn spun in a single direction, it is not really suitable for knitting stocking stitch in the round. The knitted fabric will have a tendency to skew. If working in the round in a textured pattern this will not normally be a problem. In a multicoloured work Spinni will often be used as one of the yarns and with its beautiful and characteristic structure it is a lovely element in the knitted fabric. Gauge Spinni: 3 mm needles = 26 sts/ 30 rowsSpinni + Alpaca 1: 3 mm needles = 24 sts/ 28 rowsSpinni + Alpaca 2: 3,5 mm needles = 20 sts/ 26 rowsSpinni + Silk Mohair: 4 mm needles= 18 sts/ 24 rows Material 100% wool (single ply)Meterage 600 m in 100 g | 300 m in 50gThe yarn is spun and dyed in Denmark

A Knitting Life - Out into the World Do experiences in life transform us as human beings? Places where we live; conversations with people we meet; traveling to other countries; attending special events. What transforms and informs a craftsperson? A Knitting Life – Out into the World is the second book of three in which Marianne Isager reveals her knitting life through five decades. It wasn’t until the 1990s that Marianne Isager truly began exploring the world. In this book we follow Marianne on her travels to Latin America, Africa, Greenland, and Nepal. On these travels the gates open wide for an abundance of inspiration. Not just the patterns of textile, baskets and pottery, but also architecture, landscapes and all of those wonders that will fill your mind and soul when you first visit a new place and experience the traditions, the food, the people, and the history of the country creeping into the core of your body. As in the first book a number of her previous and most significant designs are presented, many of which reflected the fashion of the day. This book also contains 16 new designs with knitting instructions based on the inspiration from her travels, all of them combining craftmanship and yarn of high quality. During these years filled with traveling, Marianne’s home village, Tversted in the northern part of Denmark, remains the anchor in her life. Tversted is also the home for the yarn company Isager which is owned and operated by Marianne Isager and her daughter, Helga Isager. Isager Isager Palet

8 in stock Shipped within 1 business day

Palet ISAGER PALET s a thicker ‘summer yarn‘ than Bomulin, and it adds an interesting structure when worked together with other yarns. The colours in Palet are a mixture of many colours, but the finished result will not be ‘striped‘, as the colours are added as small dots onto the yarn. The yarn is beautiful used on its own, especially in simple models, but it is also really exciting when worked together with other yarns. The colours work best if used in stripes together with e.g. Bomulin and this shows in the model Palet.
